Revamping The Gulf Oil International Instagram Page

Context:
Gulf Oil was struggling to create content that was relatable to its audience who, once we identified them, consisted of (mostly male) motorists and sports fans. While Gulf Oil has an unmistaken history and legacy which has mostly been brought to life through its sponsorships in motorsports and collaborations with brands like Tag Heuer, their identity on social media wasn't quite living up to par.
What I did:
My job? The creative ideation and copywriting side.
To get Gulf Oil's page to where it needed to be, we had to completely rethink the way we market the brand on Instagram in terms of creative ideation, design and copy.
So, to turn things around I helped implement a series of content pillars that would see us creating assets that really resonate with our audience which, as you'll notice, included memes, relatable bold statements, and tributes to everyday people who share the same interests and values as Gulf Oil.
One thing to really note is the tone of voice in every post, I really tried to stick close to the stringent requirements of the brand (to be bold and progressive), but at the same time not come across as too brand-y / in-your-face.
The results:
Much higher engagement across the board, obvs.
